NBA Player Development
We seek to create space for player aspirations to thrive.
From the beginning of their playing careers, and as they continue to evolve their identities, relationships, and passions, we shape programs and initiatives to serve players through multiple types of experiences.
NBA Player Development represents the league’s core investment in ensuring players have access to critical educational resources, support, and opportunities as they navigate their lives as people and professionals on and off the court.
This includes:
- Supporting first-year players at the annual draft combine, draft, and Rookie Transition Program — as well as the Rising Stars workshop over All-Star weekend.
- Hosting social events and programs to connect players with their passions and interests, such as the Business Mentorship Program and Coaching Development Program.
- Holding two CBA-mandated meetings each season with every NBA and G League team, in partnership with the NBA Players Association. These Team Awareness Meetings focus on the services and support available to players, from off-court development to mental health services.
