The UNDERDOG Mentality

Growing up, Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis watched his mom, a single mother of four, juggle long hours at work and still make sure the kids got to school. “It was a grind,” he says. “She had the underdog mentality before I knew what an underdog really was.”

Her relentless hustle inspired him to name his clothing brand, "UNDERDOG" — a celebration of the grind, resilience, and bravery to bet on yourself when no one else will.

“Underdog is just not about sports with me, it’s just a way of life.”

Portis remembers coming out from basketball practice one night to find his mom sleeping in the car. She’d wake up, drive him home, help the kids with their homework, then head back to work “like it was nothing.”

Now, Portis hopes he can inspire someone else who is grinding.
